Snow Emergencies
Ohio Snow Emergency Levels Explained

Ohio sheriffs use a standardized three-level snow emergency system to communicate road conditions and travel advisories:

Level 1 Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.
Level 2 Roadways are hazardous. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work.
Level 3 All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. Those traveling on the roadways may subject themselves to arrest.
Note: During a Level 3 emergency, only emergency personnel and essential workers should be on the roads. Violators may be ticketed or arrested, and tow trucks may not respond to non-emergency calls.
